With a single hand against her belly, Mary Todd Lincoln revealed to her husband's closest friend, Henry Sturgess, that she carried Lincoln's son in the wake of his assassination.
Henry ensured that the boy, Thomas "Tad" Lincoln, was cared for as well as his mother, who fought in her husband's stead. When he came of age, Tad was trained as well, wielding an axe like his father (the same axe, made from parts salvaged from Abraham Lincoln's last great stand against Adam) and hunting vampires at the beck and call of his father's old friend.
So it was that the Lincolns became the greatest vampire hunters history never knew, changing the family name in later years to Abrams as an homage as well as a safeguard against discovery. While some started families and gave up the old ways, others lived and fought alongside familial patron Henry Sturgess, among them being Lincoln Abrams. Losing his mother to childbirth and his father to the trade, Lincoln was raised by Henry from the age of six, and grew to embrace the family business. Wielding the heirloom silvershot axe of his ancestors, he is currently in pre-law at UNLV, spending his nights following the orders of his adopted father and instructor to seek out and slay the undead living in the heart of Sin City.
